Where on earth is the term going??? Camp last week was fantastic and it sounds like they had fun back at school as well!
This week has been another action packed week. We have started looking at how to write Recounts in writing. In Reading we have continued looking at predicting (what will happen in this story?), decoding (reading the tricky words) and understanding what we read.
We have been fortunate enough to have some Student Teachers in our class. Miss Locke and Mr Nga are with us every second week and this week they have been taking small maths groups. We have also had Mr Moody (a maths facilitator) come in and model maths lessons to help us become better teachers of maths too. We are winding up measurement and starting to look at addition and subtraction for the rest of the term.
I've had a few questions about home learning from parents. Just a re cap: We encourage 20 minutes or so of reading each night. If your child has read with me in a group during the day and has their reading book bag, they can take that book home to read that night. If they don't have their bag, then they can choose something from home or the reading links on the blog to read.
I give them the option of learning their basic facts bricks too and there are some cool maths links I have on the blog too:)
